One of my favorite things about poufs is that they are extremely versatile; they can act as a footrest, provide comfortable extra seating, or even embody a side table to hold your drink. One thing I love about doing a DIY piece is that you can stuff it with pretty much anything. And yes, I just said pretty much anything.

Firstly, polyether flakes (foam rubber) is a popular material to put inside the outer casing. Basically, this material is shredded residual polyether foam.

Secondly, you can use materials laying around your house – such as scrunched up newspapers or old clothes. When deciding which to use, it really depends on how firm you want your seat to be.

Thirdly, I know some people who will just put cotton stuffing inside of their cotton poufs. Or a comfy bean bag chair…who will ever know!?

Yes – they are SO worth it! Not only are they extremely versatile pieces of furniture, they look great in any room of the house. For example, you could place one in the kids’ room or use one as a floor cushion in a small space where you don’t have room for large furniture. Additionally, they typically have removable covers that are machine-washable, so they’re easy to clean!
